This is a new 3-piece master link for a 1/2" x 1/8" chain which is the kind that is on almost all coaster brake bicycles, BMX bicycles, and 3-speed bicycles. The color is black. It is NOT for bicycles that have a derailleur. See "How to put on a 3-piece master link" below.
If you are not sure how wide your chain is, you can easily check the width like this:
HOW TO CHECK THE WIDTH OF YOUR CHAIN TO SEE IF IT IS 1/8" OR 3/32". You do not need to take off your chain. If the width of your chain is 1/8", then you can put 2 quarters between the sideplates of an inside link but you cannot put 2 nickels. If the width of your chain is 3/32", then you can put 2 dimes between the sideplates of an inside link but you cannot put 2 pennies between them. When putting coins between the sideplates, put a piece of white paper under the chain with a light shining on the paper. This way, if both coins are not actually going all the way down between the sideplates, you can see a space under one of the coins where it does not go all the way down. So, if one of the coins does not go all the way down between the sideplates, you can conclude that those 2 coins will not go between the sideplates because the width of the coins are too large.
HOW TO PUT ON A 3-PIECE MASTER LINK: Put the side with the posts in the chain. Place the other side on. Push the spring clip on to hold the side of the link on. Push the spring clip on with the flat end of a screwdriver or something. Whatever you use to push it on may slip and the spring clip will fly off a few feet and you cannot find it if it falls on the ground. So, you should put it on somewhere so that you can find the clip if it flies off as you are pushing it on.
